Home Again- Wrap-up
One of the most exciting parts of our journey to New Orleans was our visit to the New Orleans Lighthouse for the Blind. Jenice Heck gave us a tour of the Lighthouse. Saturday night Jenice and several other Lighthouse staffers came to the French Quarter and joined us for dinner. We had a blast. It is always interesting to see how other blind people live. The New Orleans Lighthouse has a large manufactureing department and a very respectible board of directors. That is the primary way the Lighthouse of New Orleans differs from Lighthouse for the Blind in San Francisco. Blind people are blind people and we deal with community politics and institutional discrimination in both LA and CA.
